China Industry Enthusiastic about LXI
In the Fall of 2006, several hundred scientists, engineers, researchers and professors attended two meetings in China to learn firsthand about
the LXI Standard. Attendees at both meetings showed a great deal of interest in the benefits of LXI.
The first presentation was in Zhangjinjie, sponsored by the Chinese LXI users group, a government sponsored group of researchers and professors
interested in advancing LXI in China. About 200 people attended the meeting; they indicated that the China LXI users group is represented by 132
companies, with both the users group and several individual companies expressing interest in joining the LXI Consortium. Companies such as Shaanxi
Hi Tech are already members of the worldwide LXI Consortium, and the Shanghai Institute of Measurement and Testing Technology expressed interest in
becoming a local Asian certification test lab.
The second meeting in Xi’an was attended primarily by engineers from aerospace and defense companies, as well as a number of systems integrators.
The attendees at both meetings were attracted by LXI’s ability to handle a large number of test nodes easily and the long-term stability that is so
important to test systems. Attendees were also impressed by LXI’s communication speed, flexibility and ease of use compared to GPIB implementations.
This was the first LXI user group meeting in China and provided a venue for Chinese users to share the results of their study of LXI technology and
applications. Because of the success of these meetings, the LXI Consortium has scheduled its next General Meeting for June 19-21, 2007 in Beijing, China.
This will be the first PlugFest to be held in Asia. LXI member company Agilent Technologies will serve as host. Meeting information can be found on the
LXI website www.lxistandard.org.

| Application Notes Describe LXI in Real-World Systems |
Application Notes available on the LXI website show how LXI-compliant instrumentation has been used to solve real-world problems, including:
Distributed LXI Measurement System
Simplifies Aircraft Structural Tests
– LXI-based instrumentation eliminates the need for proprietary calibration sequences, reduces maintenance and simplifies support
for complex test and measurement system.
LXI Simplifies Satellite Testing System
– Subsystem using LXI-compliant power supplies is controlled by an Ethernet connection that simplifies troubleshooting and debugging.

LXI Referenced on World’s Most Popular Website
LXI has become part of the cultural mainstream, having been referenced on Wikipedia,
the multilingual, web-based, free content encyclopedia. Wikipedia’s popularity has risen steadily since its inception, and it currently ranks among the
twelve most-visited websites worldwide.
Wikipedia is a combination of the words wiki (a type of collaborative website) and encyclopedia. It is written collaboratively by volunteers, and with rare
exceptions, its articles can be edited by anyone with access to the website.
The LXI article on Wickipedia provides an up-to-date overview of the technology and its capabilities.

LXI ConneXion Provides In-Depth Technical Coverage
If you want detailed how-to information on LXI technology and applications, subscribe to LXI ConneXion.
The magazine is published quarterly by Nelson Publishing Inc. and is dedicated to the next generation of test systems that harness the power of Ethernet.
Every issue includes an update on LXI Consortium happenings and articles on building test systems using LXI-compliant instruments.
Electronic Design Recognizes LXI as an Emerging Trend
In its 2007 Technology Forecast issue, Electronic Design magazine
identified LXI as one of the new testing options that is helping designers get their products to market faster. The article
"PXI and LXI Set the Table for a Tasty Test Buffet” describes
how “new LXI instruments let engineers assemble economical test systems optimized for their needs.” It goes on to enumerate the advantages that
LXI’s speed, timing and synchronization bring to test system design.
In "The Future of Modular Systems,” the magazine cites
LXI as a growth area within the T&M circle. It describes how “LXI extends the range and speed for instrument interconnections and adds a
critical timing and synchronizing capability not available in GPIB.” The article states that LXI provides the test engineer with a new option
that may be a better fit to the test application.
Keep up with LXI on the T&MW Blog
For the latest news on LXI developments, be sure to visit the LXI Web Log
hosted by Test & Measurement World magazine. Chief Editor Rick Nelson moderates the blog, and its key purpose is to keep readers up to date on the
LXI standard. The site also provides a forum for visitors to ask questions or share their expertise in LXI instrumentation. Recent postings
highlight several LXI-related resources, including a series of application notes and an online LXI tutorial created by UK-based
Radio Electronics.
The LXI Consortium views the blog as an easy way for system developers to learn more about LXI devices and applications as well as upcoming events.
Everyone interested in LXI is encouraged to visit the site and contribute to the online discussions.
